Planning a school fete or sports carnival: tips for P&C committees
A good fete or carnival starts with a map of the grounds. Mark where stalls, food, seating, the PA and the toilets will go, then build your hire list from that.
- Line up the stalls. Gazebos make quick, tidy stall rows, and pagoda marquees suit the canteen, raffle table or a feature stall.
- Plan shade for the whole day. Sports carnivals mean hours in the sun for students, staff and parents. Put shade over spectator areas and marshalling points, and consider cooling hire for the hottest days.
- Keep everyone informed. A PA system carries announcements, event calls and results across the oval, so nobody misses a race call or the raffle draw.
- Separate people from traffic. Temporary fencing, crowd control barriers and picket fencing can be installed and removed by our crew, to keep the car park and road clear.
- Keep the canteen running. Catering equipment helps the volunteers serve, eskies and refrigeration keep drinks cold, and portable toilets and bins take the pressure off school amenities.
- Get the paperwork sorted early. We can provide a certificate of currency for our $20 million public liability cover and help with risk assessments and engineering reports. Any permits remain the school’s responsibility.
Every order is delivered and collected by our team, and the delivery fee depends on the school’s postcode.
