A pagoda marquee and a pop-up gazebo can look similar from a distance… both give you shade and a defined space for guests. They are built for quite different jobs though. One is a heavy duty tent installed by our crew and made for longer, more commercial events. The other is a light DIY shelter you set up yourself. Here’s how to choose between them for your Brisbane, Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast event.
What is a pagoda marquee?
A pagoda is a marquee with a peaked roof. You may also hear it called a pinnacle marquee or a peak-top marquee. They are all the same style with slight variations in roof and tensioning types. Its elegant profile suits ceremonies, entrances, markets and relaxed gatherings. Pagodas can also be joined to create longer covered runs.
We hire two ranges:
-
- 3m pagoda marquees from 3m x 3m up to 3m x 150m
-
- 6m pagoda marquees from 6m x 6m up to 6m x 30m
Every pagoda is installed by the DSTP team and we do not offer pagodas for dry hire. Our pagodas are waterproof and windproof so they handle Queensland rain with ease.

What is a pop-up gazebo?
A pop-up gazebo is a lightweight shelter on a folding frame. Available as “supply only”, so you put it up yourself or we can do it for you as well. We hire pop-up gazebos in 3m x 3m and 3m x 6m sizes but you can join them side by side for a larger covered area.
Pop-up gazebos suit stalls, sports days and quick shade at a smaller gathering. They are suitable for light rain only. For heavy rain you’ll need a pagoda or a structure marquee. If your gazebo is going on concrete, add weights to your order.

Choose a pop-up gazebo if you want

Need more space than a pagoda?
For a seated dinner or a large reception, step up to a structure marquee. We hire 6m, 8m or 10m wide structure marquees. As an approx. guide, a 6m x 9m structure marquee seats approx. 60 guests at round tables of 10 or approx. 72 at rectangular tables of 8. These figures assume tables fill the marquee so allow extra room for a dance floor or bar. For pagoda layouts or standing events, contact us for numbers.
